Nokia 2.2 Launched In The U.S. For $139

Nokia launched a new budget smartphone last month called the Nokia 2.2. It was aggressively priced so as to compete with the myriad of devices in this segment of the market. HMD Global, the company that’s making Nokia-branded smartphones now, has decided to offer the Nokia 2.2 in the United States for $139.

The Nokia 2.2 features a 5.7 inch 720p display with a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor. There’s a 13 megapixel camera at the back and a 3,000mAh removable battery, a luxury that you don’t get with most smartphones these days. There’s even a dedicated Google Assistant button so that users can easily launch Google’s digital assistant at the press of a button.

There’s no fingerprint sensor on this device but it does have basic face unlock which relies on the 5 megapixel front camera. The Nokia 2.2 ships with Android 9 Pie out of the box and will receive the Android Q update when Google releases it to the public. The handset will receive major Android updates for two years and security updates for three.

Since it’s part of the Android One program, it’s a near vanilla Android OS experience without any bloatware or skins. The Nokia 2.2 is available with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage in Steel and Tungsten Black colors for $139 through Amazon. It will be available from select Best Buy stores from August 4th.
