Google Photos for Android will now give Live Previews of videos

To be able to see the content without actually opening it is something that we, especially Windows Phone fans, love. Both Google and Apple subscribed to the idea and are considering adding the Live Preview feature to many of their respective services.

The recent service that got the live preview is Google Photos, the default photos app for Android smartphones. After updating to version 4.20, you’ll be able to take a glimpse of the video as you scroll through the library, meaning that you don’t need to press the play button to find out what the video is all about. More importantly, if you want to watch the full video without opening it, you’ll be able to do that as well, just make sure that the thumbnail is visible on the screen. The feature will be effective on both local content and content that are backed up to the cloud.

Note, the feature works only on the main feed and not in album or search screen. And I’m hopeful that the issues will get resolved with future updates. The Live Preview feature is only available for Android smartphones at this moment and is expected to launch on the iOS app soon.
